Skybox is a many-in-one appliance
that comes with Skyrope services and resides at your offices as customer
premise equipment (CPE). You do not buy or lease a Skybox. Skybox is the
means through which your utility services are provided. Like a cable converter
box, the same Skybox is capable of carrying many
different kinds and levels of service.
In contrast to ever-proliferating one-trick-pony appliances, a Skybox
performs, enables, monitors and/or acts as a gateway to multiple key
IT infrastructure functions. It is easily customized before deployment
to meet your needs. Other key features include:
| • |
Skyboxes are fully managed by Skyrope including systems administration,
updates/patching, daily management of all servers and services, and
on-site hardware support with free parts and labor guarantee. |
| • |
Though occasionally referred to as an appliance, the Skybox is
not a “black box”. It is built on field-serviceable commodity
PC hardware, runs a non-embedded, non-proprietary operating system
that seamlessly integrates into your existing environment, allows
installation of additional software, is scalable beyond the chassis,
and future-proofed / extensible through advanced distributed computing
technology. |
| • |
All Skyboxes are engineered for solid business continuity, featuring
hardware RAID, redundant cooling, multiple network interfaces,
out-of-band management capability (through analog phone line when
power and/or Internet are down) and event-triggered alarms that
page our engineers. Just about anything on your site will fail
before your Skybox fails.
|
Skyboxes come in various shapes and sizes including mini, tower and
rackmount form factors depending on your needs and environment. The two
distinct categories of Skyboxes are Skybox
standard and Skybox
SBS (Serverless Business Solution).
